The grounded reading
A modest claim versus a strong one
Language can influence how some tasks are performed. That is much narrower than the assertion that a language determines all thought or rewires a person to see future events. Results can depend on tasks and methods; the two color studies should not be presented as a universal law.
Grief without a technical shortcut
The nonlinear premise lets the audience consider choosing a meaningful relationship despite knowing that it will include pain. Whether the future is fixed in the story remains a philosophical problem about choice. The emotional insight does not need to be validated as a scientific account of time.
A correction to keep in view
A corrigendum to the 2020 color study was published online in June 2026. Its effect on the reported results has not been verified in this edition. The earlier study is included as research context, not treated as decisive evidence against linguistic relativity.
